Well, it’s that time of the week again! Where does the time go?! It’s time for your Mid-Week Tease! And as you know, I love this blog post feature that Author Sandra Bunino hosts and allows me, and others, to participate in every week. Mid-Week Tease allows us authors to share a snippet of a new release, a backlisted title or a WIP. It’s great fun because aside from sharing a little part of my work, I get to read those snippets of the other authors on the list and have been introduced to an amazing amount of great authors and books.
In honor of the great review and Top Pick from Night Owl Reviews for Board Stiff, book 1 in the Taking Advantage series, I decided to give everyone a glimpse inside John Dorsey and Elizabeth Wright’s little world. John meets Elizabeth when she, as a corporate attorney, is brought into the boardroom of Advantage Insurance Company to give a presentation to the board of directors, of which John is a member. The attraction between these two is combustible. John convinces Elizabeth to have dinner with him. The excerpt below takes place when Elizabeth is picked up by John after work. Enjoy!
As she ducked through the car door, she saw John sitting there. His white shirt was unbuttoned at the collar and his sleeves were rolled up his forearms. Yep, he definitely worked out. She could see the muscle definition just in his forearms. And his hands… even his hands looked strong. She remembered the feel of them on her low back when he pulled her against him earlier. Her cheeks flushed as the memory of their kiss invaded her mind. A flush spread all over her body. She could feel the heat pool at her core. She crouched onto the black leather seat and set her purse between them. Perhaps a little barrier would do them good.
“Mr. Dorsey,” she said softly as the driver closed the door behind her.
“Elizabeth, please call me John. When I’m buried deep inside your body, I don’t want you moaning ‘Mr. Dorsey,’ I want you calling me by my first name,” he said. His hazel eyes turned a shade darker as he spoke his words, but his gaze never left her eyes. She inhaled sharply. Quickly scanning the car, she let out her breath when she realized the barrier between the front and the back of the vehicle was up, making their conversation private. Thank God! She’d never been around anyone who had been so frank about wanting to fuck her. Should she be pissed? He clearly assumed bedding her was a foregone conclusion.
“That’s quite presumptuous of you, John,” she said, drawing out his name. She could do this. She wasn’t a woman without any game or flirting abilities. He growled when she said his name and crossed the distance between them, pushing her purse to the car floor and pinning her against the back seat. His hand gripped the back of her head just seconds before his lips pressed against hers. This man knew how to kiss. His lips were soft but strong and confident against her own. He worked her lips open and slipped his tongue inside, exploring her. The feel of his tongue against hers made her moan.
“I love the way you just said my name,” he whispered against her mouth. “I can’t wait to hear you say it when I first slide inside your hot little body.” Elizabeth whimpered at his words. Something about him made her feel sexier than she ever had. She just wanted to feel him above her and at this moment, she didn’t care where they were.
