Some Secrets Are Just Sinful

Today, I have Daisy Rose visiting the Spicy Butterfly Garden.  She’s the heroine in Raven McAllan’s Behind the Mask, which is part of a collaboration from seven Evernight Publishing authors entitled 7 Sinful Secrets.  Here’s a little about 7 Sinful Secrets before I interview Daisy herself.  🙂

Hi Daisy Rose!  Thank you so much for joining me today and allowing me to pick your brain a bit.  Behind the Mask was a fun story.  You take a holiday in beautiful Antiqua after a big art exhibition and you come back married.  I love it!  Can you give us a little insight to Daisy Rose.  What makes you tick?

Daisy:  Chocolate and fizz. Sunrise and a rainbow. Storm clouds at sea. A spiders web, damp with dew on a branch. Alex. – I bet Alex does!  😉

What sort of art is displayed in your exhibition?

Daisy:  It’s from my heart. Whatever I see and how I translate it really.

Was the exhibition themed?

Daisy: It’s themed in I paint what I see and we do ‘rooms’

Was this exhibition your first?

Daisy:  This is my second exhibition, but this one has so much more depth. That comes with love I reckon.

What are you working on now?

Daisy:  Nude studies *winks*

I’ve been to the Caribbean.  Jamaica.  Cayman Islands.  It’s beautiful and tropical and I always felt like I was forced to relax.  You are sort of required to live on island time when you are there. You traveled to Antiqua, which is in a little different area of the Caribbean than I have traveled, to celebrate your successful art exhibition.  What was it about Antiqua that enticed you to travel there? How long was your holiday?

Daisy:  I was there for several weeks, and I chose it because my parents took me as a little girl. I remembered the slowly, slowly, no hurry attitude, and the way we always arrived…eventually.

How long were you in Antiqua before you met Alex?

Daisy:  Long enough to know I needed something extra in my life.

Alex’s statement that he’d let you sketch him if you married him was rather blunt and to the point considering you both had literally just met at the restaurant.  What was your initial reaction?  What thoughts ran through your head after he made this proposition?

Daisy:  At first I was er who is this asshole, but the twinkle in his eye showed me he didn’t take himself too seriously. But then he smiled and you know, his whole focus was on me, and I felt as if I was his world. And I was tempted to call his bluff. But he wasn’t bluffing.

What happened after that fateful dinner?

Daisy:  *winks*

What did Alex say (or do) to convince you to marry him?

Daisy:  TMI… but it’s the little things that matter. And he puts his dirty clothes in the laundry basket, knows how to make a cup of earl grey and has all his own teeth. He’s kind considerate and a great…

Daisy, when your friends recommended you have a holiday romance – a “no name, no shame” kind of thing, you indicated that wasn’t for you.  Yet, you come home from the holiday married to a man you just met.  How did you explain that to your friends and family?

Daisy:  No one believed it. But then, I have a reputation for having a kick ass take no prisoner temper if I’m crossed so there wasn’t that much hassle. And I did marry him, and not come home with two toy boys and a monkey. I just said I fell in love, and dared them to question me.

At what point were you positive the masked dancer/stripper was Alex?  Did you think this was a set up by your friends?

Daisy:  I sensed him when he came into the room and didn’t think I could be right. I just thought I had Alex on the brain. It was the look in his eyes that convinced me it wasn’t a set up, but I knew I’d want answers!

How did you feel that Alex hadn’t been upfront with you about this side of him?  Have you gotten past the “trust” issue that something like this could cause?

Daisy:  You know it was a two way thing. I hadn’t told him where I was going either. Yeah I was upset, but then everything had happened so fast, there had to be a lot of shaking down. I bet however open you say you are, there’s a few secrets lurking in every marriage, even if it’s just I hate the way he picks his teeth! – Ain’t that the truth!  🙂

Last summer, Magic Mike, the movie, was all the rage here.  Though I’m not going to comment on the plot or acting of the film, I will admit Channing Tatum caused a multitude of naughty thoughts every time he took the stage.  I often wondered if those dance moves translated in the bedroom.  Do they?

Daisy:  I’m sorry, am I the only one who’s never watched the film? All I can say Alex is very versatile and we do enjoy ourselves. Although if we practiced what we do in the bedroom on the dance floor we’d be arrested.  – Good answer, Daisy!  🙂

Describe Alex in five words.

Daisy:  Charismatic, hot, kind, hardworking, playful.

Any exciting plans for you and Alex in the future?

Daisy:  We intend to go back to Antigua, oh and I’ve asked for a pole in the spare room for my birthday!  – Ohhhhh, what a great request!  🙂

Thank you so much for joining me today and sharing little insight to you and Alex.

If you’re like me and want to know a bit about the author, well here are the nosy links…

Raven lives in Scotland, along with her husband and their two cats—their children having flown the nest—surrounded by beautiful scenery, which inspires a lot of the settings in her books.

She is used to sharing her life with the occasional deer, red squirrel, and lost tourist, to say nothing of the scourge of Scotland—the midge.

A lover of reading, she appreciates the history inside a book, and the chance to peek into the lives of those from years ago. Raven admits that she enjoys the research for her books almost as much as the writing; so much so, that sometimes she realizes she’s strayed way past the information she needs to know, and not a paragraph has been added to her WIP.

Her lovely long-suffering husband is learning to love the dust bunnies, work the Aga, and be on stand-by with a glass of wine.
