7th Annual Black Friday Book Bonanza – Let Me Love You – Pre-Order

Happy Day-After Thanksgiving or as the retailers like to call it – Happy Black Friday!  Hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday and if you are one of those Black Friday shoppers, I do hope your long waits in line were worth it!

BookBonanza2017button

Welcome to the 7th Annual Black Book Friday Bonanza. I’m thrilled to be a part of this blog hop because it falls perfectly before the new release of my new novel – Let Me Love You.

Let Me Love You E-Book Cover

Twenty-three-year-old Ren Haynes returns home after graduating college with two goals–start his engineering career and claim the heart of his parents’ thirty-one-year-old divorced neighbor, Stacey Williams.

Stacey is nursing her broken heart and shattered ego. Not only did her ex-husband have an affair, he got the woman pregnant. Picking up the pieces of her life isn’t easy, so when Ren taps into her need to feel desired again, she finds herself in a position she never imagined.

Can Ren help to rebuild her confidence and convince her that age is just a number?

This story is near and dear to me and a long time coming. Back in 2015, I started writing the story of Ren and Stacey. At the time, it was called Love Thy Neighbor. I submitted the first 5,000 words of it to the Pages From the Heart writing contest just for the heck of it. And it won! 🙂

But commitments to other projects and life got in the way of me completing it. It sat in my WIP folder begging to be told. I worked on it periodically in the early part of 2017 with a promise that I’d publish it before year-end. After attending the RWA National Conference in Orlando in July, I was revived and inspired by so many aspiring and well-known authors that the rest of the story just starting pouring out of me. And as the story unfolded, I realized so did a new title for the story. If you pre-order it and read it on December 18th, you’ll understand why. Pre-order it on Amazon here.

Let Me Love You blurb

As part of this blog hop, I’m giving away a $15 Amazon gift card. All you have to do is subscribe to my newsletter. Plus, you can earn extra points in the giveaway by tweeting about my new release or following me on Facebook. Good luck and happy blog hopping.

Let Me Love You

Today USA Today’s Happily Ever After shared the cover reveal for my newest novel, Let Me Love You, available on December 18th.

Let Me Love You is a long time coming. A story that won the Pages From The Heart Writing contest in 2015 – it sat on my desk while other projects were pressing with deadlines and life threw curves to prevent me from completing it. I dedicated 2017 to its completion because I love the characters and the story. Finally, it’s here.

We often read stories about older men and younger women – a trope we’ve accepted in romance and in life. But we don’t often get that same intrigue or acceptance when the ages are reversed. I am four years older than my husband. Not a ridiculous age gap, but one that still surprises people. Apparently, somewhere it was written that men should be older than their women. For those of you that know me, I’m not one that has ever really followed the norm. 🙂 Once we get beyond a certain point, age really is just a number and love can come in all sorts of shapes, sizes and age gaps. I hope that you enjoy Let Me Love You and the story between Ren and Stacey. It’s fun. It’s sexy. It’s real.

Friends to lovers—can Natalea Jones and Drake Harte break through their friendship barrier and find happiness?

Natalea Jones has had a rough life. An absentee father. A gambling-addicted mother who seems to show up only when she needs something—preferably money. Natalea survived her childhood and teenage years because of her best friend, Drake Harte, and his family. Even though she’s been in love with Drake for years, she refuses to let her lust get in the way of their friendship. Life without Drake is not possible and sex would certainly complicate things.

Drake Harte is not only known as the most eligible bachelor and firefighter in Gamble Park, Florida, he’s also known for sexing the ladies and leaving them. Only he knows the reason he can’t make a commitment to the women throwing themselves at him—he’s in love with his best friend. It’s time he either goes for it or moves on…and he’s going after Natalea with everything he’s got.

Read an Excerpt

It appeared many of the women tonight were hoping to make history of their own or at least to misbehave with one of the firemen expected to appear. Most of the women in their tight jeans and skintight T-shirts were here to see her best friend, Drake Harte, take the stage in his turnout pants, suspenders and not much else as next year’s Mr. December.

“Nat.” Drake’s deep, familiar drawl echoed as he swung open the main door.

Speak of the devil.

He sauntered in, as if on cue, as Tim McGraw’s Real Good Man played over the speakers. Impeccable timing, as usual. Drake moved with a swagger few women were immune to, including her. She and Drake may have grown up together playing tackle football and wrestling in his parents’ orange groves, but even her heartbeat accelerated every time he walked into a room.

“Hey, Drake.” She jumped down from the stage and waved him over to a seat she had reserved for him. He maneuvered through the horde of patrons. Natalea didn’t miss the way women’s heads turned as he made his way to her. Some called his name and he smiled a sexy smile that made them sigh. She scooted over to where her bestie would sit for the next few minutes until show time.
Straddling the empty stool, he placed his immense hands on the bar top and pushed his torso over to plant a smacking kiss on her cheek.

The soapy, clean masculine scent that was all Drake invaded her nostrils and she inhaled deeply, attempting to keep it a part of her soul. That smell was home. Her home. Yes, she lived upstairs, but no matter what sort of crazy shit happened in her life, he grounded her, returned her to reality.

Unspoken by R.A. Padmos – Money Matters

unspokenMoney Matters

By R.A. Padmos

We like money. O rather, we like the positive effect of having enough money to not needing to worry about our next meal, the roof over our head, the cost of accident or illness. A bit more money to be able to have some fun in life is something that most of us wouldn’t say no to either, but knowing that we have at least enough to get through life without big worries about our basic needs is a huge factor in human happiness. It scores high on deciding factors for happiness in a relationship. Money can’t buy love, but a severe and chronic lack of it sure can break a marriage.

Can this be one of the reasons why romance novels, be they gay or straight, are not very often about characters in a (near) permanent situation of poverty? Of course, a temporary inconvenience that ends with the right kind of millionaire falling for our hero of heroine makes for a great story. And if not that, then a rags to riches story by sheer talent is equally fine. It gives the reader hope, even if for most it’s a fantasy that lasts a couple of hours before reality strikes with its lack of available men/women with big money and equal lack of insane talent combined with an even more insane amount of luck.

In Unspoken, money, or rather lack of it, is one of the big deciders for how Stefan, the main character, interprets the choices he has when it comes to his romantic and sexual feelings for another man. Of course he and his lover have their fantasies of getting away from it all, but they are brave and decent enough to face the reality of the situation. Stefan has the responsibility for his wife and their four children in a time of economic crisis followed by war and occupation. He also has found the love of his life, and he’s not planning on giving that up either.

Not a story to forget reality, I give you that. But perhaps it can be an inspiration to say in difficult times, “I’m not sure how I’ll manage to deal with this, but I’m giving it my best try.”

What’s it about?

When Stefan meets Adri, it is love at first sight. It does, however, take some time before he recognizes his own feelings. He’s a married man—a family man—with a strong sense of responsibility. In Dutch society of 1935, sex between men over the age of twenty-one might be legal, but acceptance is still a long way off.

As a working-class man without a steady job, he doesn’t have the means to ignore society’s rules and create his own little paradise in which both he and his lover can be together, without his family having to suffer poverty and shame. Despite all this, the lovers find a way to carve out moments of intimacy and happiness.

Then the Germans march into Holland and nothing will ever be the same again. The occupation, which will last five long years, offers both danger and chances, but choices have to be made—choices of the head and choices of the heart.

Readers might be interested to know that Stefan, Adri and others also play a role in The Bookshop, the story of bookseller Jakoba.

A small taste?

This scene takes place when Stefan and Adri visit Jo Swart, an old friend of Adri’s.

He recognized the avenue where Johannes Swart lived from work—a place with nothing but big, stately homes owned by families who had been rich enough for long enough to have lost all memory of ever having to do a manual job to get by.

“You never told me your friend had that kind of money.”

“Why should I have? He helped me to find my way in life, recommended me for a room, work, paid for evening classes but most of all he helped me to become an independent adult. And that can’t be bought with money. I have no idea about his fortune, but it must be huge since he hasn’t worked for his living for a single day in his life. Can you imagine that, trading in art just for fun? I bet it’s made him even richer than he already was. He could afford to be a patron for young artists and poets. He wouldn’t miss the couple of hundreds a year anyway.” There wasn’t even a hint of jealousy in Adri’s voice, not even when he said, “With his money, I could settle your family in a nice little cottage close to my own villa, make sure your kids went to proper schools and your wife never wanted for anything, and have you almost entirely to myself.”

“You were saying something about being an independent adult? Doesn’t that count for me too?” teased Stefan.

“Then we do it the other way around, with you being filthy rich, living in the big house with your family and me in the servants’ house. You can visit me any time you like.”

“And any time just happens to be every night?”

“Something like that.”

Mine to Love by Lea Bronsen

unnamed (29)My Girl Code sister – Lea Bronsen – has book 2 of her Hot Model Mine series out – Mine to Love. I’m very excited to share her new release with you all because she is an exceptionally talented writer. Enjoy!

Book two of the Hot Model Mine trilogy is finally here! Did you wonder what happened to erotic romance author Andrea and her irresistible cover model, Yushka, after the conference in Cannes?

In book one, The Perfect Shoot, things were complicated for the couple. He was much younger than her—practically the same age as her twins—and she’d spent half her life without a man. After much reflection, she ended up giving into her desire and taking Mr. Hot Model for lover. But what then after they traveled back to their separate lives?

Wait no more: They’re here to tell the continuation of their sizzling love story 🙂

 unnamed (28)

BLURB:

The writing conference in sunny Cannes was fantastical, a dream. Back at home, reality catches up with author Andrea Johnson and the sexy cover model of her book, Yushka. With tough working schedules, challenging family relations, and seductive temptation from all sides, the couple’s explosive romance is put to the test.

Will their love be strong enough to have a future?

BOOK TRAILER:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ievwhCy6FOc

EXCERPT:

While Yushka gets his duffel bag in the back seat, I lean against the side of the Corolla and stretch my arms on top of its roof. “You got everything?”

“Yeah.” He lifts the bag over his shoulder and tilts his head in direction of the front door. “We good to go?”

My pulse beats a little faster at the thought of him dropping that bag on my bedroom floor and lifting me in his arms instead. I’m so excited to be with him, I simmer inside, aching to touch and hold him. I want to have all of him at once, right now.

A spark of amusement plays in his gorgeous Asian eyes as he waits for me to make a move. “What’s on your mind, Princess?”

Holding his gaze, I smile, my fingers tapping a beat on the car hood to buy some time because I don’t know what to reply. I have a feeling whatever might come out of my mouth now, like I can’t wait to rip those clothes off you or I’m going to make you scream, will sound too cheesy. Why do we need to put our attraction into words, anyway? Once we’re home, there’ll be no reason to talk that much. We’ll do the talking with our more-than-capable hands and … um … mouths.

I tap a quick rap before stepping back from the car. “Come on.”

“Okay.” Widening his smile, he follows me to the front entrance.

I unlock and push the wood door open. “I hope your bag’s not too heavy. The elevator doesn’t work.”

“When are they gonna fix it?”

“Huh, good question.” I step forward, but when in the doorway, I spin to hold the door open for him. “I have no idea.”

“No?” With a raised brow, he passes me.

Just then, I move toward him, chest-to-chest, blocking him and his thick bag between myself and the doorframe.

“Oh!” He laughs.

As the door pushes into my back, squeezing me tighter against him, I put my hands on his waist. First above his clothes––the thick leather jacket and his shirt––then sneaking underneath both of them, my fingers splaying on his warm skin and stroking him.

Completely stuck, he tilts his head and stares into my eyes, his own sparkling with playfulness. “What are you up to?”

“You have a problem?” I move my hands out from beneath his shirt and go downward to palm his tight ass cheeks, pulling his crotch to me. My lower stomach and increasingly heating inner thighs seek to meet his. I want to be so near him he’ll feel my lust, and I want his lust to grow, too. I need us to join and be a match, a melting pot of desire, irresistible and untamable.

“I have to bribe you?” he asks, voice lower, and leans down to kiss me.

How did he guess? At the warm touch of his parted lips, delight rushes through me as if I’d had a shot of alcohol.

He retreats his face a few inches, enough to have a view of what he just kissed. “This good enough for you?” His voice comes out husky, a bit short of breath. With his free hand, he strokes and kneads my butt.

“One more,” I mouth with the next exhale of air. Though the door bores painfully into my back, I don’t want to move, loving the feel of being so close to Yushka, so intimate. It’s amazing how instantaneous and intense our connection is. Just wait till we get our clothes off.

Again, his warm lips land on mine, and we kiss greedily, nose-to-nose, wet tongues playing with each other. My inner pussy muscles clench, remembering too well what it’s like to have his cock inside. I breathe faster. A growing hardness in his crotch presses against me, provoking more tightening. Oh, God. Hot wetness glides down my pussy, wetting my panties. So ready, so soon… I mew into his mouth, and he rewards me with a guttural response, our mouths practically eating each other.

But this isn’t the right place. We need to move and play this torturous game and its grand finale somewhere else.

Releasing his lips, I gasp from our separation, but still manage to pull away.

“Fuck, you’re hot.” He inhales deeply and looks up, feverish eyes widening and trying to refocus.

As I step backward, forcing the door to open again, cold evening air sneaks between our heated bodies. “Let’s go,” I say with a croak, my chest heaving.

He gives a small nod and steps inside the low-lit lobby.

The Alpha Gladiator by Beth D. Carter

Okay, I admit it…I fell in love with Spartacus as played by Andy Whitfield in the Starz adaptation. How horrible that he succumbed to non-Hodgkin lymphoma shortly after wrapping up the first season. During the second season, the producers decided to introduce a new gladiator which, in my opinion, was one hot hunk to watch! So when the third season came back, with a new lead to play Spartacus, it didn’t seem such a sad departure from Andy.

I became fascinated by the dynamics of the politics behind the gladiator games. The origin of gladiatorial combat is open to debate. There is evidence of it in funeral rites during the Punic Wars of the 3rd century BC, and thereafter it rapidly became an essential feature of politics and social life in the Roman world. Its popularity led to its use in ever more lavish and costly games. The gladiator games lasted for nearly a thousand years. (Thanks, Wikipedia!)

The Alpha Gladiator was actually written to be part of an anthology, but it came out as too sci-fi, so I switched it to the novella story line, Romance on the Go, for Evernight Publishing. The Spartacus story might have provided the idea, but I moved everything into a futuristic slash paranormal setting. The next story I have planned in this line features more of the slave and gladiator dynamics, not quite so paranormal but still within the realms of mystical. Hopefully that will be written soon, after I wrap up a few other series.

Excerpt:

“I remember.” He looked around. “You are a compassionate woman. Caring and kind. You would make me a great mate.”

Her mouth dropped open. “Excuse me?”

“A mate. I have been waiting for you to enter the mating ceremony for ten years, Aleirah. Surly you knew that?”

She shook her head. “No. I … ah … no. I don’t think I would make a very good mate for an Alpha.”

“Why would you think that?” he asked, a bit vexed. Ravage was fast learning she could be a little stubborn.

“I’m…” She paused and cleared her throat. “I just don’t think I would.”

“I beg to differ, and I hope you allow me to change your mind.” He stepped closer to her and her breath hitched in her throat. He tilted her face up and her mouth dropped open on a breathless little sigh. The he offered her his elbow. “Would you take a walk with me through the night?”

She bit her bottom lip with her top teeth, and the action had an interesting effect on his dick, which jumped to attention. Ravage could just imagine her sinking her teeth into his shoulder as he thrust into her beautiful body. Hesitantly, she took his arm and as soon as she touched him, he placed his hand on top of hers, trapping her by his side. Now that he had her, he wasn’t about to let her get away.

He pulled her away from both bonfires, into the woods, letting the darkness shroud them. Sometimes it was easier to let go of secrets and fears when the other person was cloaked in shadow. The night had always been a friend of the Lycanis people, so Ravage used the moon to his advantage.

“I remember you from when we were children,” he murmured.

“I remember you too,” she said softly.

He grinned, pleased with her answer. She may deny that she wanted to be his mate, but the pheromones coming off her body indicated otherwise. Aleirah found him desirable. Whether or not she wanted to be his mate, her body had already begun changing to accept his claiming bite. Now, he just had to get her to admit it, and he wasn’t above using seduction on his part.

Where to find Beth:

I like writing about the very ordinary girl thrust into extraordinary circumstances, so my heroines will probably never be lawyers, doctors or corporate highrollers. I try to write characters who aren’t cookie cutters and push myself to write complicated situations that I have no idea how to resolve, forcing me to think outside the box. I love writing characters who are real, complex and full of flaws, heroes and heroines who find redemption through love.
