Romance Is Everywhere With Elodie Parkes

The Flower Box and Candy Hearts, were released very close together, February 7 and 14 by Hot Ink Press.

Contemporary, erotic romance, and without my usual twist of paranormal, fantasy or magic, I’ve enjoyed writing these love stories. They are both Valentine’s Day oriented stories, but can be read anytime. Five behind the scenes facts from Elodie about The Flower Box and Candy Hearts

Candy Hearts was originally going to be titled, A Piece of my Heart. I changed it as I realized the importance of the hearts in the story.
Amber Tom’s ex in Candy Hearts was originally called Susie. Then I realized there’s a Susie in my book The Winter Girl.
The Flower Box was originally titled, A Random act of Kindness and then I decided it wasn’t a very hot title for an erotic romance.
I very nearly had a male rival for Oliver in, The Flower Box and then decided it wasn’t much of a twist and I do like my twists so I changed the story.
I designed five covers for The Flower Box and couldn’t decide which one I liked best. Even now, I’m not convinced I chose the one with the right color scheme. I always do that to myself, design heaps of graphics, and then can’t choose. (laughs)

It’s been a while since I’ve had a full length book to release, and I’m thrilled that Killian’s Claim is finally here.

Most of my books have been M/M military themed, so my new series, Call of the Wolf, is a fresh and exciting new sub-genre I can’t seem to get enough of.

The first book, The Becoming, is featured in the Alpha’s Claim Manlove Anthology from Evernight. The story intrigued my muse and opened up a whole new world full of sexy, paranormal wolf-shifters.

The Call of the Wolf series follows the lives of several wolf packs across the state of Texas and a few other southern states.

Their species lives by a strict code, and heed the call of the spirit wolf in all things, including matters of the heart. Not an easy undertaking when you’ve been told your sexuality goes against the laws of nature … or does it?

Change is coming, and each pack will inevitably have to make choices that will either strengthen or destroy their way of life.

The characters in Killian’s Claim, face these problems as well, but they have so much more than wolf spirits to deal with.

Here’s a little taste of what I’m talking about…

There are many reasons for me to watch True Blood… many reasons! To just show a few….

Elyzabeth M. VaLey’s “Dance for Me, Princess”

I’m more than pleased to have Elyzabeth M. VaLey back on the Spicy Butterfly Garden promoting her story, Dance for me, Princess, from the Evernight Publishing Anthology, Alpha’s Claim. She was one of the very talented authors that I had the pleasure of joining in that anthology and I loved her story. Enjoy!

Many of my stories wouldn’t have been born without music. The beautiful, harmonious combination of notes, regardless of the musical genre, appeal to my muse and have sparked the beginning of more than one romance.

Sometimes, the music comes first, but other times it appears half way through the story. Dance for me, Princess was an example of the latter. I knew the characters and I was simply looking for some music for Sophia to dance to. I started out with some of the more upbeat themes of Diary of Dreams, but something was off. Youtube then suggested Blutengel. I’d never heard the German music group before, so I thought, why not? The first song that came up and called my attention was When I feel you.

I still remember hearing the lyrics and grinning like a fool. That was the song. It was exactly how Markus felt. Furthermore, it had a good beat to which Sophia could dance.

Sophia has her own song too. I had already baptized her as Frost Princess when I found that Blutengel had a song titled Ice Princess. The lyrics have little to do with Sophia, except that indeed there is no coldness in her soul, but the song had an exceptional rhythm.

With the music set, some visual inspiration (check out the Pinterest board), and a whole lot of demanding whispers from the characters, the story of Markus and Sophia became Dance for me, Princess. I hope you enjoy it!

Totally Tantalizing Tuesday – Carlos Bocanegra

Growing up in northeast Ohio, football ruled the world. American football. I was going to Friday night high school football games from the age of 2 and grew a great appreciation for the sport living with a father and brother that adored the sport as well. Actually, my dad still holds the record at my high school for longest touchdown pass. He was the quarterback back in his day!

I’d heard of soccer and had even seen some kids play it, but my high school didn’t have a soccer team at the time so the sport was unfamiliar to me. When I moved to Florida and met the man that would eventually become my husband, my eyes were open to the sport (and the men that play it :))! My husband grew up playing soccer and he introduced me to the Major Soccer League (MLS) and the World Cup and what all the fuss was about Man U! Being an athlete myself, I grew a great appreciation for the sport (and the men that play it :))

Today, I’m giving the Totally Tantalizing Tuesday spot to one of the best (and one of the hottest) US soccer players of my time – Carlos Bocanegra.

He’s played for the MLS Chicago Fire and currently for the Chivas USA. He’s played in the English Premiership for Fulham and in the French, Scottish and Spanish leagues. He’s played in multiple World Cups and was the captain of the men’s national soccer team for a period of time.

Extinction Excerpt:

It’s impossible to have a serious conversation when I’m standing here with my balls in my hand.” He peered at her from under lowered lids, sounding strangely vulnerable.

Maybe he wasn’t such a cold hearted bastard after all. She knew she would go completely doolally if anything happened to her parents. That still didn’t make it any more appropriate for him to be stark bollock naked in her bedroom. The sooner he covered up his six-pack and that happy trail of hair dipping from his navel, the quicker she could resume hating him. She grabbed her robe from behind the bedroom door and threw it at him.

“Thanks.” He dropped the pillow to catch it in both hands.

Who’s “Claiming Ayden”?

Today, Eileen Griffin is at the Spicy Butterfly Garden giving us a look-see at her story, Claiming Ayden, one of the stories in the Alpha’s Claim Manlove edition. She gives us a little background as to what inspired her to create this story. Welcome, Eileen! 🙂

I’ve been asked what my inspiration was when I was writing “Claiming Ayden”. I have a weakness for Alpha males and absolutely love the wolf sub-culture. They’re fascinating animals that are extremely territorial about their packs, travel vast distances to find food and shelter to ensure the health of their packs, but are also one of the few animals that mate for life. When I was developing my story and characters, I kept envisioning the scene from Last of the Mohicans when Hawkeye (played by Daniel Day-Lewis) was racing to rescue his love, Cora. The intensity with which he traverses the distance and landscape to save her has stuck with me all these years – for me, it was a pivotal scene in the movie. It made me wonder how a wolf/human shifter would react to his beloved, in this case Ayden, was captured by his Alpha’s enemy. The story basically wrote itself from there. It was such an awesome and novel experience to create a world and story for them, that I hope to one day continue Ayden and Thane’s story in future novellas 🙂

Totally Tantalizing Tuesday – Channing Tatum

Those people that know me well know that I’ve had a crush on Channing Tatum for a ridiculous amount of time. From the moment I saw his moves in Step Up and then again in Magic Mike, I’ve kept my eye on him… well… because any man that can move like that is worth watching! Seriously! So I was asked by a few girls that know me pretty good why I haven’t spotlighted my long time crush on Totally Tantalizing Tuesday and my response is: Here he is! 🙂

Though originally from Alabama, Channing is pretty famous for his stint as a stripper in the Tampa Bay area! No one was more disappointed than me to learn that Magic Mike was filmed in Tampa/St. Petersburg and I did not weasel my way in as an extra for that movie! 😉 He’s in a ton of films now and has made a real name for himself. I loved him in The Vow and 21 Jump Street. And I love that fact that he always appears to be such a doting husband to his wife Jenna. I’m sure he’ll be just as doting to his adorable daughter too! L-O-V-E … the Valentine’s Day Gift Hop
