The #GirlCode project has been a rollercoaster ride. Putting your heart and soul into a story in the midst of working a full-time job, being a mother to three young children, a wife to a wonderfully patient man and doing all the other things required to make this life run smoothly can take a toll on a person. I’ve had the privilege to work with three amazing authors on #GirlCode and I must admit, I’ve never been more proud of a project. Enjoy the Book Trailer and then Pre-Order your copy of Girl Code now! 🙂
Four weeks in a row! 🙂 Yep, I’m back again for another round of Sandra Bunino’s Mid-Week Tease. You know-the feature where us authors get an opportunity to post a snippet of a work-in-progress (aka WIPs), a new release or a back title. It’s an amazing way to get a peek at different authors and see what’s up with some of your favorites!
For the last three weeks, I’ve let you get a sneak peek into three of the four stories in Girl Code by DC Stone, Lea Bronsen and myself. This week I’m letting you have a glimpse into the last story in Girl Code – FAITH by Cait Jarrod. The four of us are very eager to share these stories with you. Hope you enjoy!
Setup: the first time Selena and Cullen talked since the night before she went into the Air Force.
Another week has flown by and that glorious hump day is here to push us into the weekend. With Wednesday comes Sandra Bunino’s incredible feature – Mid-Week Tease – where us authors get a chance to share snippets of works in progress, new releases or back-listed titles of our own or of others! It really is a fabulous way to catch a glimpse of an author’s style and along the hop, you may find a new author that might soon become your favorite! 🙂
Two weeks ago, I shared a part of my story – HOPE – from the Girl Code anthology I worked on with DC Stone, Lea Bronsen and Cait Jarrod. Last week, DC Stone allowed me to share a peek at her story from Girl Code – PERSISTENCE. And this week, we get to see a bit from the talented Lea Bronsen and her Girl Code story – LIVE. You are so going to love this glance into Juls and just how she meets Reef. Enjoy!
Thank you to Sandra Bunino for hosting this wonderful feature – Mid-Week Tease – where authors get to share snippets of their books or WIPs (aka works in progress) 😉 It’s a great opportunity to get a glance at an author’s work and perhaps find new authors along the way.
Last week I shared my story – HOPE – from the Girl Code anthology that I worked on with DC Stone, Lea Bronsen and Cait Jarrod. This week, I’m sharing a snippet of DC Stone’s story – PERSISTENCE – also from Girl Code. You’re going to love it! 🙂
But before we get to the really good stuff (and I assure it is good – I’ve read DC’s story) – here’s the blurb for PERSISTENCE:
Laydi Michaels has been running away from her past and bad memories for years. Finding herself wasn’t an easy task, but she’s managed to finally get to a point to where she wants to be. Only to wake up married to her boss….who fired her the night before. Wrapped in a case that puts her life in danger, and dealing with a grave situation back home in Pearl, Laydi figures out she wasn’t close to finding herself, and now, she’s risked everything.
Laydi Michaels woke with a start, her eyes opening and slamming shut in a flash as the glare of sunlight stabbed like a two-ton sledgehammer into her pounding brain. Not that she thought a two-ton hammer existed, but with how she was feeling—headache, nausea, and alarmingly, yet deliciously sore in certain places—that was the only apt description. She had the hangover of all binge drinkers. One that rivaled her high school days where she’d disappear with Dad’s fifth of Jack, a bag from Burger King, and her best friends, until not a drop remained in the bottle and they’d mastered Lady Gaga’s latest hit. At the top of their lungs. Forward and backwards.
Bringing herself back to the present, and away from any mention of alcohol, because her stomach adamantly recoiled at the thought, she left her eyes closed and took stock of her surroundings. From the brief glimpse, she hadn’t recognized the bare white walls, or the rose-colored drapes hanging in front of the large window. She was obviously not in her own room, where the walls were a sage green and the windows had blackout curtains—something required in her line of work, due to her overnight surveillance cases.
Next noticeable concern? She was completely naked, just as the day she was born. The sheets against her skin—not that she was moving much; no, her stomach revolted against that—were soft, a higher thread count than the Egyptian cream-colored ones back home.
The most alarming detail of all, though, was the very heavy and thick arm wrapped around her waist. She lay slightly on her side, but her hip was without a doubt touching a warm thigh, and from the uncomfortable poking sensation, the stillness of this male body next to her, something was up before the actual man was.
Raking her mind, she tried to remember anything, something from last night, a clue to explain where she was and whom she was lying next to. But all she could come up with was how she’d made an absolute blathering fool of herself to her boss, Andrew Cox.
She paused and gave a little girly sigh at the thought of him. Tall, well over six-feet, he was built like a Greek God, and not the ones learned about in History class. No, this guy had romance novel written all over him. Combined with the charm of a gentleman, and the resemblance to Chris Hemsworth; ladies fell all over themselves in his presence. And with his dating history, Andrew wasn’t one to shy away from attention.
His hair was dark blond and a few weeks past needing a haircut. His bangs fell across his forehead when he typed furiously on his computer, or when he was interviewing a suspect and got really into the story. His eyes changed colors depending on the shirt he wore. They could be either blue or green, but they were wide-set and startling to the female population. She’d seen many women trip over their feet when taking in Andrew, and if his height, six-days-a-week I-work-out-at-the-gym body, hair, or eyes didn’t do it, the smooth velvet of his voice caused thighs to tremble with anticipation.
He should have been a radio DJ, or a phone sex operator, instead of the CEO for Off The Record Private Investigations.
He had a smooth southern drawl that spoke of being raised somewhere in the state of Georgia…sexy as hell. She shuddered at just the memory.
Two things happened next: her stomach lurched and bile rose, her body’s way of telling her she had indeed indulged in one or too many drinks last night.
Second, as she snapped her eyes open and dove from the bed, she caught a glance at the mysterious stranger in bed with her, who was really no stranger at all.
Gloriously sexy, sleepy—and very familiar—blue eyes widened in surprised and concern as she bounded across the room for the bathroom, where she promptly regurgitated last night’s fun.
I hope you enjoyed this snippet from DC Stone’s contribution to Girl Code. We are super excited about this anthology and can’t wait to share it all with you. 🙂 If you enjoyed this post, please click on the link below to see the rest of the amazing participating authors in Mid-Week Tease.

Woohoo! I’m back in the Mid-Week Tease saddle! It’s been quite awhile, but I’m SUPER excited to be back on Sandra Bunino’s feature where us authors get to post a snippet of a story – published or in the works! I’m excited because I’ve been working on a great project with an amazing group of authors – D.C. Stone, Lea Bronsen and Cait Jarrod. And guess who wrote the introduction to this amazing book? Yes, one of my all time favs – Julie Ann Walker! Yes, I know, right?
Now that we are in the editing stages of Girl Code, I’d like to share a little snippet of my story – HOPE. But first, here’s the blurb to give you a little background on my story:
Josephine “Joey” Lockhart hides behind her camera—and has since she was young—because it’s safer to view the world through a lens than to actually have to face it or live it. Growing up in the small town of Pearl, Ohio, with an alcoholic father and an enabling mother, the only thing she can be is quiet, reserved and withdrawn unless she’s with her “sisters.” After high school, she escapes to Florida, where she lives a comfortable and modest life doing what she loves—taking photos, but there’s a fun-loving, adventurous and strong woman hiding under the past that plagues her. In walks Talon Manness, who seems to not only have a knack for bringing her out of her shell but also causing her heart to race frantically for real for the first time in her life, but Talon has his own issues. Can they work through their pasts toward a future together? Is hope enough?
On most Tantalizing Tuesdays, you’ll find me posting pictures of the hottest half-naked buff young guy I could find to tease you all. This week I’ve teamed up with one of my favorite gal pals, DC Stone, to bring you one of the most sophisticated and sexiest men on the planet. For the longest time, he was known as Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor. No one thought he’d ever tie the knot. Well, we need not wonder anymore… George Clooney is officially off the market! I know… I think we all collectively sighed when we heard the news. He’s like a fine wine… George has only improved with age. Sit back and enjoy, ladies!
If you didn’t get enough of George, don’t miss DC Stone’s Man Candy Monday post!
Ahhhh! I just returned from a glorious weekend of partying with some of the hottest country music stars. I attended the Florida Country Music Fest in Jacksonville, Florida. If you like country music, the line up was a dream. Colt Ford. Little Big Town. Eric Church (who is a rock star, I might add). Jason Aldean. Joe Nichols. Easton Corbin. Florida Georgia Line. Miranda Lambert. And last, but certainly not least, Luke Bryan.
Two days of great music, super entertainment and hot, hot country guys! Trucks jacked up all around me. Tight jeans with no shirts. Cowboy hats and boots. Amazing, hot… I mean fanning myself… hot country boys! So, I thought instead of focusing on one individual today, I’d share my favorite collection of country hotties. Enjoy!
I had the great pleasure of reading Intimate Danger for one of my favorite authors and friends, DC Stone. She asked if I’d read through it and give her my thoughts. I was honored to be asked because DC is an amazing writer and has been instrumental in improving my writing. She’s volunteered on more than one occasion to critique my writing and I was thrilled to be asked to do the same for her.
Working with DC on a story, Snapped, we are co-authoring, I knew her writing style… intense, vivid, and exciting. Her characters come to life on the pages and you instantly become immersed in their world. Intimate Danger is no different. It’s a fabulous romance suspense novel that has you at the edge of your seat and lusting after the hero. If you’re looking for a great book to add to your summer to-be-read list, add DC Stone’s Intimate Danger. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
Congratulations, DC! ❤
A sleeping threat has awakened in the cozy village of Nyack, and Detective Charlese “Charlie” Lopez is tasked with stopping the deranged perpetrator. Ready to prove herself, Charlie’s surprised by the arrival of two FBI agents sent to assist, one of which is the charming and sexy, but guarded, Trent Rossi. As the crimes progress, so does Charlie’s desire to know Trent on a very personal level. She finds her attraction surging for the agent—only to realize that his random disappearances, his silence when questioned, and his exceptional knowledge of the perpetrator make him the primary suspect.
Dark secrets begin to blur the line between who is on which side of the law. If she can’t solve these crimes, Charlie’s attraction to Trent could become fatal.
It may be too late already.

Jesus, he should be looking for this Detective Lopez, but his body screamed for this woman. He fought the urge to fidget, cursed the hours he had been working, unable to get any kind of companionship. He would have to work quick and then find Charlie. “I’m Agent Rossi with the FBI.” He leaned against the desk, gave her the look that had gotten him into pants faster than any of his college buddies, and held out a hand. She looked at his palm as if it were a serpent ready to strike.
“And? How can I help you, Agent Rossi?” She rose from her chair and crossed her arms under her breasts. He tried—and failed—to ignore how the movement pushed her plentiful mounds up toward her chin.
He pulled his hand back and ran it through his hair.
Bad move! The stench coming from under his arm made him wince.
“Look, I know you probably have things to do,” he said.
She nodded, brows lifted to her hairline, as if saying “no shit.” He went on, “But I do need to find Detective Lopez. You’d be a real sweetheart if you could point me in his direction. I’m here on a case and I don’t know…maybe after I’m done briefing him, you’d like to have dinner with me? That is, if you’re not busy?”
The contortion of her brows twisted before a sly smile spread.
“You’re looking for Charlie, huh?”
Someone groaned, and Trent glared over his shoulder, perplexed. The heavyset guy in need of Tide shook his head and looked away. Irritated at the interruption and apparent lack of man code, Trent turned his attention back to the cute little female.
He nodded. “Yeah.”
The woman shifted and sat in the chair with purposeful, slow movements. She set one foot on the desk, crossed a long leg over the other. Each action played out in slow motion through his lust-filled brain. He shifted, his focus glued to the smooth expanse of a jean-covered thigh, and stepped closer.
Hummidy, hummidy, hummidy.
“And why is it you need Charlie?” The woman ran a hand up the outside of her leg and his attention followed it. His mouth went dry.
“Umm, a case.”
“Yeah.” When silence met him, he realized what was happening. You didn’t have to go through interrogation and interview classes in order to figure it out. He was being led. His gaze snapped to hers, except this time, her face did not look friendly. If the hardening of her mouth was any indication, she looked pissed. And he’d been totally caught just checking her out.
Resigned, he let out a breath.
“Yeah, a case. Look, I’m sorry for all—” He waved a hand between them. “This. Could you just point me in the direction of Detective Lopez?”
Her hard mouth softened and she stood from her chair again, lips turning up at the corners. Leaning into him, her scent surrounded him and he got a whiff of coconut.
His gaze tracked along her face, and dropped to her shirt, which parted as she leaned forward. He about choked as he tried to swallow, his mouth dry as the Arizona desert.
“Well, Agent Rossi.”
Lean forward a little more, please.
“If you could stop staring at my tits for all of two seconds, then I’ll tell where you can find Detective Lopez.”
The noisemaker behind him let out a strangled cough.
