Mid-Week Tease – FAITH from Girl Code – #MWTease #GirlCode

MWTease151Four weeks in a row! 🙂 Yep, I’m back again for another round of Sandra Bunino’s Mid-Week Tease. You know-the feature where us authors get an opportunity to post a snippet of a work-in-progress (aka WIPs), a new release or a back title. It’s an amazing way to get a peek at different authors and see what’s up with some of your favorites!

For the last three weeks, I’ve let you get a sneak peek into three of the four stories in Girl Code by DC Stone, Lea Bronsen and myself. This week I’m letting you have a glimpse into the last story in Girl Code – FAITH by Cait Jarrod. The four of us are very eager to share these stories with you. Hope you enjoy!

Two weeks ago, I shared a part of my story – HOPE – from the Girl Code anthology I worked on with DC Stone, Lea Bronsen and Cait Jarrod. Last week, DC Stone allowed me to share a peek at her story from Girl Code – PERSISTENCE. And this week, we get to see a bit from the talented Lea Bronsen and her Girl Code story – LIVE. You are so going to love this glance into Juls and just how she meets Reef. Enjoy!

Mid-Week Tease – PERSISTENCE from Girl Code – #MWTease #GirlCode

MWTease151

Thank you to Sandra Bunino for hosting this wonderful feature – Mid-Week Tease – where authors get to share snippets of their books or WIPs (aka works in progress) 😉 It’s a great opportunity to get a glance at an author’s work and perhaps find new authors along the way.

Last week I shared my story – HOPE – from the Girl Code anthology that I worked on with DC Stone, Lea Bronsen and Cait Jarrod. This week, I’m sharing a snippet of DC Stone’s story – PERSISTENCE – also from Girl Code. You’re going to love it! 🙂

But before we get to the really good stuff (and I assure it is good – I’ve read DC’s story) – here’s the blurb for PERSISTENCE:

Laydi Michaels has been running away from her past and bad memories for years. Finding herself wasn’t an easy task, but she’s managed to finally get to a point to where she wants to be. Only to wake up married to her boss….who fired her the night before. Wrapped in a case that puts her life in danger, and dealing with a grave situation back home in Pearl, Laydi figures out she wasn’t close to finding herself, and now, she’s risked everything.

*****

Laydi Michaels woke with a start, her eyes opening and slamming shut in a flash as the glare of sunlight stabbed like a two-ton sledgehammer into her pounding brain. Not that she thought a two-ton hammer existed, but with how she was feeling—headache, nausea, and alarmingly, yet deliciously sore in certain places—that was the only apt description. She had the hangover of all binge drinkers. One that rivaled her high school days where she’d disappear with Dad’s fifth of Jack, a bag from Burger King, and her best friends, until not a drop remained in the bottle and they’d mastered Lady Gaga’s latest hit. At the top of their lungs. Forward and backwards.

Bringing herself back to the present, and away from any mention of alcohol, because her stomach adamantly recoiled at the thought, she left her eyes closed and took stock of her surroundings. From the brief glimpse, she hadn’t recognized the bare white walls, or the rose-colored drapes hanging in front of the large window. She was obviously not in her own room, where the walls were a sage green and the windows had blackout curtains—something required in her line of work, due to her overnight surveillance cases.

Next noticeable concern? She was completely naked, just as the day she was born. The sheets against her skin—not that she was moving much; no, her stomach revolted against that—were soft, a higher thread count than the Egyptian cream-colored ones back home.

The most alarming detail of all, though, was the very heavy and thick arm wrapped around her waist. She lay slightly on her side, but her hip was without a doubt touching a warm thigh, and from the uncomfortable poking sensation, the stillness of this male body next to her, something was up before the actual man was.

Raking her mind, she tried to remember anything, something from last night, a clue to explain where she was and whom she was lying next to. But all she could come up with was how she’d made an absolute blathering fool of herself to her boss, Andrew Cox.

She paused and gave a little girly sigh at the thought of him. Tall, well over six-feet, he was built like a Greek God, and not the ones learned about in History class. No, this guy had romance novel written all over him. Combined with the charm of a gentleman, and the resemblance to Chris Hemsworth; ladies fell all over themselves in his presence. And with his dating history, Andrew wasn’t one to shy away from attention.

His hair was dark blond and a few weeks past needing a haircut. His bangs fell across his forehead when he typed furiously on his computer, or when he was interviewing a suspect and got really into the story. His eyes changed colors depending on the shirt he wore. They could be either blue or green, but they were wide-set and startling to the female population. She’d seen many women trip over their feet when taking in Andrew, and if his height, six-days-a-week I-work-out-at-the-gym body, hair, or eyes didn’t do it, the smooth velvet of his voice caused thighs to tremble with anticipation.

He should have been a radio DJ, or a phone sex operator, instead of the CEO for Off The Record Private Investigations.

He had a smooth southern drawl that spoke of being raised somewhere in the state of Georgia…sexy as hell. She shuddered at just the memory.

Two things happened next: her stomach lurched and bile rose, her body’s way of telling her she had indeed indulged in one or too many drinks last night.

Second, as she snapped her eyes open and dove from the bed, she caught a glance at the mysterious stranger in bed with her, who was really no stranger at all.

Gloriously sexy, sleepy—and very familiar—blue eyes widened in surprised and concern as she bounded across the room for the bathroom, where she promptly regurgitated last night’s fun.

I hope you enjoyed this snippet from DC Stone’s contribution to Girl Code. We are super excited about this anthology and can’t wait to share it all with you. 🙂 If you enjoyed this post, please click on the link below to see the rest of the amazing participating authors in Mid-Week Tease.

Mid-Week Tease – HOPE from Girl Code – #MWTease #GirlCode

MWTease151

Woohoo! I’m back in the Mid-Week Tease saddle! It’s been quite awhile, but I’m SUPER excited to be back on Sandra Bunino’s feature where us authors get to post a snippet of a story – published or in the works! I’m excited because I’ve been working on a great project with an amazing group of authors – D.C. Stone, Lea Bronsen and Cait Jarrod. And guess who wrote the introduction to this amazing book? Yes, one of my all time favs – Julie Ann Walker! Yes, I know, right?

girlcode-customdesign-jayAheer2015-complete

Now that we are in the editing stages of Girl Code, I’d like to share a little snippet of my story – HOPE. But first, here’s the blurb to give you a little background on my story:

Josephine “Joey” Lockhart hides behind her camera—and has since she was young—because it’s safer to view the world through a lens than to actually have to face it or live it. Growing up in the small town of Pearl, Ohio, with an alcoholic father and an enabling mother, the only thing she can be is quiet, reserved and withdrawn unless she’s with her “sisters.” After high school, she escapes to Florida, where she lives a comfortable and modest life doing what she loves—taking photos, but there’s a fun-loving, adventurous and strong woman hiding under the past that plagues her. In walks Talon Manness, who seems to not only have a knack for bringing her out of her shell but also causing her heart to race frantically for real for the first time in her life, but Talon has his own issues. Can they work through their pasts toward a future together? Is hope enough?

Mid-Week Tease – Almost Ready for Submission WIP – Board Discretion – #MWTease

I have had one of those years wherein I have five to six WIPs going and I can’t seem to get a single one to the best part – THE END! Part of the problem was that my thumb drive went ka-put early in the year and it took a few months to recover everything – but everything was recovered thanks to those techy saints! And Thank God. The other issue is that my schedule has become some sort of crazy-person’s schedule and it doesn’t really seem to be letting up. But I can’t give up!

So on I go! After a few months off of the Mid-Week Tease trail, I’m back! And I’m always thrilled to join Sandra Bunino on this adventure.

I’ve been working on this story – Board Discretion – for awhile now and I’m so very close to the end. Since getting the thumb drive back, I’ve tweaked it a bit to improve it and I hope you all will like it. It’s the third and final book in my Taking Advantage series and I finally feel like Mark Olson and Suzie McCormick are getting their proper story. In the scene below, Mark is waiting for Suzie to get home from a club he left her at. He’s been pacing in front of her elevator anxious for her arrival.

Suzie McCormick

“Mark,” Suzie exclaimed. Her back pressed against the rear wall of the elevator, her blue eyes widened in surprise, her blonde tendrils cascading over her shoulder and her mouth was agape. She clutched her phone to her chest. Her friend, Lisa, maintained a similar expression. He couldn’t help but chuckle.

“Are you going to get out of the elevator? Or do I need to come in there and get you?” Though his tone was half-teasing, there was a serious element to his words. He pushed off the wall toward the elevator and placed his hand on the elevator opening to keep the doors from closing.

“I can see why you like him,” Lisa said. She turned her head to Suzie in the back of the elevator and smiled before walking out. “Don’t break her heart,” Lisa whispered as she brushed past him to the door to their condo. “Or I will break your face.” Mark immediately liked Lisa because it was clear she was a good friend to Suzie.

“What are you doing here? How’d you get in the building?” Suzie hadn’t moved from her spot in the rear of the elevator.

“I’m here because I owe you an apology. Because I wanted to see you. We’ll talk about how I got in here and why you need to talk to the association about security later.” Striding into the elevator, he placed a hand next to either side of her head, caging her against the wall. His head lowered and he pressed his lips gently to hers.

“Mark,” she said against his lips. Pulling back from the kiss, he ran his thumb over her bottom lip.

“I’m so sorry I left you there,” he said. His gaze met hers and his heart constricted when he noticed her watery eyes. “It was a selfish and shitty thing to do and I don’t blame you if you hate me or never want to see me again. I’ve been so concerned about what others would think if they saw us together. That being together could ruin my seat on the board. I completely disregarded your feelings. You deserve so much better than me.” Her eyes closed and a lone tear escaped down her cheek. He brushed it away with his thumb and his chest tightened.

“I don’t want anyone else,” she said. Her voice was so soft he almost couldn’t hear her.

“I don’t want you to want anyone else,” he said. His heart beat rapidly. Just the idea of her giving herself to somebody else had his knees weaken. “I’m so so sorry.”

Mid-Week Tease – In Flames – One Year Publishversary #MWTease

As most of you now know, every week the very talented Sandra Bunino hosts the Mid-Week Tease where several amazing authors share a snippet of a new release, a backlisted titled or a WIP. Aside from having the opportunity to share a little part of my own work, I get to hop from site to site reading other authors’ works.   It’s a lot of fun and I’m proud to be a part of it when I can.

1555320_479973308773551_420094236_n

As an author, there are times when characters come to you in such a strong manner that you just can’t seem to concentrate on anything besides telling their story. Conversations and scenes play out in your head constantly and if you’re like me, you are scribbling on anything you can get your hands on so you don’t lose the scene or words or emotions. Matt and Gracelyn’s story was one of those times for me.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the billionaire story where the hero falls in love with a damsel and sweeps her off her feet. Or the bad boy that catches the girl’s eye and turns out to have a soft side. But these two wanted something different. These were two individuals plagued by the same tragedy… the loss of the same person. Matt and Gracelyn were in-laws. Gracelyn was married to Matt’s brother, who was killed on the job as a firefighter. Gracelyn and Matt leaned on each other in dealing with his death and a great love developed from there. But loving your brother’s wife, even if he is gone, is not easy.

in-flames1m cover

This April 25th will be one year that Matt and Gracelyn’s story was published by Evernight Publishing and I pleased to share a snippet of their tale with you today. This is the end of a hot love scene where Gracelyn comes to Matt’s house to yell at him for embarrassing her at the pub in front of her co-workers. You can check out that scene here as it was a Mid-Week Tease back in August 2013. These two have struggled with their feelings with each other and this scene is a breaking point for Matt. Matt takes her against the side of his truck in his garage.

 91b803d4723d297971e28ce56b512b6e

“Look at me, Gracelyn. I want to watch you as you come all over my cock.” Her eyes opened at his words. She looked at him through her lashes with a desire that almost made him come apart. Without losing eye contact, he thrust into her hard again and again. “You feel fucking amazing. God! Amazing! Come with me, baby!”

He grasped her hips and thrust into her hard. Her pussy gripped him tight, milking him and she cried out. Her eyes never left his. Another thrust and he glided over that cliff with her. A growl escaped his chest as he emptied himself inside her and his head collapsed on her chest pressing delicate kisses along her skin.

They stood like that for several minutes.  Her legs slipped from around his hips and he eased out of her. He placed her feet to the ground and adjusted his shorts. Her head fell back against the truck as she straightened her dress. Her chest heaved from her breathing.

“I’m not apologizing,” Gracelyn said softly. Matt lifted his head and pressed his forehead to hers. He looked into her blue eyes.

“I’m not looking for an apology,” Matt whispered. He kissed her softly on the lips. “What am I going to do with you, Gracey?” His hand grazed the side of her face. “You’re driving me crazy.”

“And you… me,” she whispered. A slight smile spread across her lips. “I thought if I came over here and fucked you that I could get you out of my system. That I could stop my body from craving you… stop my mind from thinking about you.”

“Did it work?” he asked. His thumb glided over her bottom lip.

“No!” she said with a laugh. He loved the sound of her laugh. “That was so incredible! All it did was make me want you more.” Her tongue flicked out at his thumb. He slid his thumb between her lips and into her mouth. Her lips closed around it and sucked it. He moaned softly.

“Do you want to try again to get me out of your system?” he asked. He pulled his thumb out of her mouth and pressed his lips hard against hers. His tongue pushed through her lips and swept into her mouth. She moaned into him. Her body pressed once again against his. He was already hard. “We can try all night if we have to.” He smiled. He wanted this woman. She turned him inside out. She made him feel things he never felt before. He knew by taking her into his bed that he had made the decision to find a way to make this work no matter what. He could not make love to her again and then walk away. His heart could not take it. He could not take it.

Mid-Week Tease – WIP – Legal Desire – #MWTease

After a few weeks off of writing due to all the technology debacles I discussed last week, I’m definitely back in the saddle. I pounded out about 10k words this weekend, making a short story into novella length and I’m still not done. Life is good when the words are flowing….

1555320_479973308773551_420094236_n

As you know, every week the very talented Sandra Bunino hosts the Mid-Week Tease where several amazing authors share a snippet of a new release, a backlisted titled or a WIP. Aside from having the opportunity to share a little part of my own work, I get to hop from site to site reading other authors’ works.   It’s a lot of fun!

Last week, I had the pleasure of introducing you to Derek and Raina. If you missed that post, check it out here. This week I’m going to let you see just how bold and crazy these two are for each other. The below scene takes place in one of the firm conference rooms. Derek has asked Raina for some help on a case and she has been more than happy to oblige… of course. Raina isn’t your damsel in distress! She’s a modern woman that isn’t afraid to ask for what she wants! Enjoy!

“Were you able to get through the whole Jenkins file?” Leaning over her shoulder, he watched her rifle through a few documents in a manila folder. Her vanilla scent wrapped around him and instantly stirred his cock.

              God damn this woman!

“I’ve reviewed the file, Mr. Sage,” she said, tilting her head to the right and exposing the length of her neck to him. She eyed him over her shoulder and her mouth quirked up on one side. His teeth dug into his lower lip to keep from running his tongue along the column of creamy skin. He desperately wanted to taste her there. He extended his exhalation, causing his breath to drift over her skin and she shuddered. Fuck! He needed inside of this woman…soon or he was going to lose his mind.

The firm would not necessarily oppose a relationship among two attorneys despite what had happened between him and Rachel. There had been one or two other couples that had seemed to work it out.

Up until this point, he just preferred keeping his love life, or should he say sex life because love had never entered the equation since Rachel, separate from his legal career. He’d thought it was better that way. Cleaner. He didn’t have a lot of time to devote to a relationship and he wanted to keep his heart in one piece, so he tried to keep his connections casual… and away from the office. He’d done pretty well up until now.

“I told you yesterday to call me Derek,” he said. The playful look in her eyes told him she was toying with him.

“I apologize.” She lowered her lashes and turned back to the table. His hands clenched into fists to keep from reaching out and touching her. The urge to pull her head back by her long hair and slam his mouth on hers was so strong he almost forgot to breathe.

“Apology accepted,” he said, using her words from the night before. He pulled back from his position over her shoulder and closed the conference room door. He walked around the conference table to sit opposite her. Putting some distance between them was a good idea because he was so close to pulling her from her chair and spreading her across the dark wood conference table. He may still do that anyway. “Your thoughts?”

“My thoughts on the Jenkins file?” She paused and raised her head to look at him with those gorgeous honey colored eyes. “Or this obvious attraction between the two of us?”

A small laugh escaped him. “Bold. And to the point, even at seven-thirty in the morning,” he said. “I like it.” He leaned back in the leather chair and crossed his right foot over his left knee. His hands folded in his lap. “Let’s talk about the more interesting of those two questions first. So, you find me attractive?” It was her turn to laugh.

“Yes. Very much. Don’t all females?” She leaned on her forearm on the table and Derek couldn’t stop his gaze from traveling down to the cleavage so elegantly displayed between the gap of her brown suit jacket. A low growl rumbled through him.

“I’m not asking about all females. I’m asking if you do.”

“Yes, I do find you attractive.”

“And I think I’ve made it too obvious that I’m attracted to you. What do you propose we do about this attraction?” he asked, bringing his gaze back to her eyes. She pulled her bottom lip between her teeth and his resolve just about snapped. He’d fantasized more than once over the last twenty-four hours about doing all sorts of things with her mouth. Watching her gnaw on her plump lower lip had his cock pressing against his slacks.

“I’d say we have two options.” Her lips curled up into a grin begging him to ask her about the options. To be honest, he was eager to hear them.

     “I’m listening.”

“I can help you with this case and we can try to pretend it doesn’t exist,” she said, not sounding too convinced that that option was actually doable and quite frankly, neither did he. He could barely think straight this morning and he’d only been in her presence a total of ten minutes yesterday. How could he function for the next several days working with her on this case? “Or we can fuck and get it out of the way, so we can focus on the Jenkins case.”

“Come again?” he asked, taken aback by her brashness. He’d admit she caught him off guard, but he liked it. Screw that! He loved it.

“I think you heard me,” she said. A mischievous smile played on her lips. “And I vote for option two.”

“I’m harder than stone right now, Raina, and on the very edge of crossing a line I’ve said I wouldn’t cross,” he growled. His erection strained against his black slacks and he was sure the only acceptable relief would come from being buried inside of her. “I don’t have sex in the office and I don’t fuck co-workers, but you’re making me question both those rules.”

Does Derek break his rules?!?

I hope you enjoyed a little more of Derek and Raina. I’ll admit… this story started out as a little short story that I thought I’d submit to an anthology and has turned into an exciting romance. Mid-Week Tease – WIP – “Legal Desire” – #MWTease

Gosh, I feel like it’s been so long! And it actually has! My last Mid-Week Tease was back in early February. Where do all the weeks go? And what the heck have I been doing? My other job has worked me to the bone early in 2014, but things are finally starting to mellow out a bit. I had a computer debacle and a very serious thumb drive debacle that I’m actually still working out… fingers crossed. It’s wreaked havoc on my writing. But I’m back in the game! And I’m glad to be back with a Mid-Week Tease.

1555320_479973308773551_420094236_n

Every week Sandra Bunino hosts the Mid-Week Tease where several amazing authors share a snippet of a new release, a backlisted titled or a WIP. Aside from having the opportunity to share a little part of my own work, I get to hop from site to site reading other authors’ works.  Sometimes you find a new author that strikes your fancy. Sometimes you find a new story or genre that spikes your interest. It’s a lot of fun!

This week I’m sampling a WIP currently titled Legal Desire. It started out as a potential submission for the Evernight Publishing executive assistant/office romance anthology, which is right up my alley for writing purposes. The problem is Derek and Raina decided they had more of a story to tell and I couldn’t contain it to 10k words. In fact, I’ve already surpassed 20k and it’s still going…. and the best part is, I like where it’s going.

Legal Desire involves a fast tracked plaintiff’s attorney, Derek Sage, who’s made partner at his firm despite an office romance with a senior attorney that blew up in his face. He’s vowed never to mix business with pleasure again. But we all know what happens when we say the word never. In walks Raina Dillon, a new associate at the firm that worked for a couple years at the public defenders’ office. Derek asks for her help on case involving a client that has a lengthy criminal record, but what he doesn’t expect is for her to help him move on with his romantic life and find love again. There are some road blocks and obstacles along the way and so far it’s been a fun ride.

Here’s Raina’s reaction to Derek when she is first summoned to his office:

He hadn’t even looked up from his computer yet to acknowledge her and she knew his firm website photo did him no justice whatsoever. Dark brown hair sat in ruffled waves on his head. Her fingers twitched at her sides itching to run through the dark tendrils. A chiseled jaw led to angled cheek bones and a strong nose. His light grey button down shirt did nothing to disguise the wall of muscle underneath. This was a man that clearly took care of himself. Even his silver cuff links screamed sexy.

He raised his head and looked in her direction. When his crystal blue eyes made contact with her own eyes, Raina inhaled sharply. His gaze turned from surprise to smoldering in a second and roamed over her head to toe and back again. A trail of heat followed his gaze and spread throughout her whole body. She’d never been so fully undressed by a man’s gaze as she had standing in front of Derek Sage.

He cleared his throat and shook his head gently. “Ms. Dillon?” he asked, tilting his head to the side. His voice was rough.

“Y-yes,” she said, stepping further into his office and approaching his desk. She held out her trembling hand to him. Damn it! Pull yourself together. He’s just a man! A damn good looking man, but just a man! “Raina Dillon. Please call me Raina. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” He stood from behind his desk. His dark grey slacks clung to strong, muscular thighs. Good God! The bottom half of his body appeared as impressive as the top.

He grasped her hand in his firm grip. A warmth shot up her arm and coiled deep in her core. The instant attraction to him had her panties already damp. When was the last time she had been so thoroughly turned on just being in the presence of a man. That’s right! Never!

“Have a seat, Raina,” he said, motioning to a chair directly in front of his desk. She squatted into the brown leather padded chair and crossed one leg over the other. Her legal pad and pen rested on her lap. He audibly exhaled as he sat back down. She didn’t miss his perusal of her bare legs or the satisfied grin on his lips. For several long seconds, they sat in an awkward silence. Finally, he scrubbed a hand over his face and appeared ready for the conversation. “How are you liking the firm?”

“So far, I love it,” she said, shifting in her seat. His gaze rested on her face before it dipped lower momentarily and Raina’s cheeks flushed. Oh God! He’s checking me out! Her heart raced and her blood pumped vigorously through her veins. Was it even possible that he’d be attracted to her? A man like this could have any woman he wanted. In fact, he probably had many.

“Good to hear,” he said. “You’ll love working with Ron. He’s one of the best civil litigators out there. Lots to learn from him.” His voice melted over her like warm, dark chocolate and her mind couldn’t help but imagine that same voice rolling over her with him poised above her. “Raina?”

“Sorry,” she said. Her cheeks flushed and she glanced out his floor-to-ceiling windows to catch her breath. Being in his presence fogged her brain. She was losing her mind around this man. Taking a deep inhale, she calmed her nerves and looked back at him sitting controlled behind his desk.

I hope you enjoyed this snippet from Legal Desire and your introduction to Raina and Derek. I couldn’t believe how they just took over on this story and turned a short anthology story into a longer book! Don’t forget to check out the other fabulous snippets from some amazing authors! Mid-Week Tease – WIP – “Love Thy Neighbor” – #MWTease

1555320_479973308773551_420094236_n

This week has been an adventure! We had the stomach bug rip through our house for the first time in two years! Blah! The only upside to that is that I got to spend some down time at home and get some writing done. Yay! I’ve got two WIPs that I’m so eager to finish that it’s killing me. One of which is my contribution to this week’s Mid-Week Tease! Every week I join several other amazing authors in Sandra Bunino’s Mid-Week Tease as we share a snippet of a new release, a backlisted titled or a WIP. Aside from having the opportunity to share a little part of my work, I get to hop from site to site reading other authors’ works. It’s a lot of fun!

This week I’m sharing a snippet of my WIP, tentatively titled “Love Thy Neighbor.” This story involves a thirty-something divorcee, Stacey, who has trouble saying no to her strong-willed and incredibly sexy younger neighbor, Ren. The scene below is the first scene in Chapter One when Ren sneaks in her back yard to find her sunbathing.

Ren Haynes unlatched the gate to his neighbor’s back yard and snuck through the opening, making sure to close it softly behind him.  An hour ago, Stacey Williams had been watering her plants and landscape in cut-off jean shorts and a red and white striped tank top.  With the strings of her red bikini top escaping from the neck of her shirt, he assumed her plan was to lounge around in her back yard by the pool on this scorching hot Saturday at the end of May and that was fine by him.

He wanted to see her.  Actually, he needed to see her.

Walking quietly around the corner of the back of her house, he stopped in his tracks.  Holy fuck! There she was in all her glory, lying on a chaise lounge a few feet from her in-ground pool, her golden skin and sensuous curves on display.  Her chestnut hair bunched in a knot on the top of her head, exposing the long column of her neck.  Her eyes were closed.  Her chest rose and fell with gentle breaths.  Ren’s breath hitched and his heart accelerated. Adrenaline pumped through him at just the sight of her.

Her breathing made it impossible for him not to stare at her tits.  Her breasts filled the cups of the bikini perfectly… not overflowing and looking sleazy, but rather classy and sexy, leaving a little to the imagination. He’d fantasized many times about molding her tits in his hands and laving her nipples until they hardened into little pebbles.  God, he wanted to touch her.

Her abdomen and legs curved around toned muscle.  A lot of the girls he met in college were either too skinny because they starved themselves under the belief they were too fat.  Or they were more than curvy, having packed on the freshmen twenty and never able to lose it.  He never understood the constant insecurity in females.  He’d enjoyed all female forms, literally. Stacey seemed to be less concerned with these insecurities and that made her all the more attractive.

She had what he considered a bombshell body, and he’d give anything to explore her with his hands, his tongue, his cock. Thinking of which, his cock twitched in his cargo shorI ts.  God, she was fucking gorgeous!

“Jesus Christ,” she yelped and that brought him out of his lust-filled haze.  Ren shook his head, trying desperately to erase the images that peppered his thoughts.  He feared his expression would give him away, but she was too consumed with grabbing the purple towel draped over the Adirondack chair next to her to recognize the hunger in his eyes.  “You scared the shit out of me, Ren!”

“Sorry, Stacey,” he said, walking over closer to where she lay as he rambled on.  “I didn’t mean to scare you. I got home from Gainesville late last night and I wanted to swing by today and say hello. See how you’re doing.  See if you needed any help with the yard and such this summer.”  He stood at the end of her chaise lounge, his form casting a shadow over her.

Ren’s mother shared that Stacey’s asshole husband, Randy, left her for a younger woman, and their divorce finalized a few weeks ago. He couldn’t help but feel elated at the opportunity that she was now free.

He’d fucked quite a few girls in college this year…well, actually, all four years of college. He’d enjoyed the release, but none of them were anything other than a lay. And none of them made him want to drop to his knees and worship the ground they walked on.  Stacey, on the other
hand, did.  He mustered all his strength to keep from hitting his knees now and expressing all the things he wanted to do to her.

Mid-Week Tease – “Panther Ridge” – Part of the Alpha’s Claim Anthology – #MWTease

1555320_479973308773551_420094236_n

Ahhh… it’s Mid-Week Tease time! One of my most favorite times of the week because I love Author Sandra Bunino’s feature. Every week I join several other amazing authors as we share a snippet of a new release, a backlisted titled or a WIP. Aside from having the opportunity to share a little part of my work, I get to hop from site to site reading other authors’ works. It’s a lot of fun!

This past Friday, my story Panther Ridge was released, along with nine other incredible authors in the Evernight Publishing’s Alpha’s Claim anthology. Below is the blurb for my story, followed by a new “tease.” Enjoy!

unnamed (7)

Nathan Thorne is many things. Confident. Proud. Strong. Ruggedly good-looking. And a firefighter. But what really makes him different from most men is that he’s part animal… literally…he shifts into a Florida panther. Nate has spent most of his life a loner, finding satisfaction in random women and roaming his one hundred fifty acres of Florida flatlands in Panther Ridge that his mother left him. He was content. But when Ciara Black enters Nate’s favorite hangout he doesn’t know what hit him. She’s everything he’s ever desired and he knows without a doubt that she’s his mate.

Ciara is on the run trying to escape her father and step-brother’s attempts to steal her Momma’s money. Life is hard and full of disappointments until she meets Nate Thorne. He turns her inside out with just a few words and a smile.

When someone threatens Ciara, Nate can’t do anything but protect what’s his. Can Ciara love him and the animal within?

The Tease:

But Nate was different. He didn’t beat around the bush. Nope! He laid his intentions on the bar top immediately upon her asking. If she were honest, she’d admit that it had been a turn on. No one had ever looked at her with such desire, such … what was that look? Need. Yes, Nate looked at her like he needed her.

All she could imagine as she stood there staring at him was how amazing his full lips would feel moving all over her body. And his hands. Good God. Roughened clearly by his occupation, but oh so strong as he held her wrists. Goose bumps had risen all over her body at the thought of him running those hands against her skin elsewhere.

The Watering Hole started filling up. Five o’clock had come and gone, and it was a typical Friday night. Someone squatted at every bar stool, and the few booths around the edge of the building were packed as well. The Johnson brothers had their usual game of pool going, and most eyes were glued to the large screen television that offered the summer’s pastime of a Tampa Bay Rays game. But Ciara couldn’t get her mind off of Nate Thorne, who sat chatting about the fires with a guy who sat next to him. Even while deep in conversation, his predatory gaze followed her every move as if he were stalking prey and she was his target.

“Hey, sweet cheeks,” Darrin Johnson said, sliding up to the bar next to Nate. Though Ciara had only been in town a couple weeks, the Johnson brothers practically lived at the Watering Hole, and she’d come to know them a bit. Darrin never relented on his flirting, constantly trying to get her to go out with him. But he wasn’t her type.

In fact, she hadn’t really known her type until she met Nate Thorne. Fuck! He is hotter than hell. His tawny hair lay short on his head but long enough to run fingers through and grasp, and his light brown eyes sparkled with gold flecks. And he was a firefighter. Hot damn! His body could easily grace one of those firefighter calendars. Many women would be proud to hang him in their homes.

“You know my name, Darrin,” she  said with a smile. “And it’s not sweet cheeks.”

“But you do have sweet cheeks,” Darrin said in a joking manner. A tiny growl rolled out of Nate as he turned his head  in her direction. Nate’s light brown eyes flashed with annoyance, and his lips pulled back as if he were seconds away from snarling at Darrin.

“Is that the way you talk to a lady, Johnson?” Nate asked, snapping his head in Darrin’s direction.

“Thorne, hey,” Darrin said, patting Nate on the back.  Nate’s muscles tensed at the condescending gesture. His biceps bulged under the tightness of his dark blue t-shirt. His pecs drew the shirt tight across his chest.

Being underneath his hard body would be a fantasy come true for Ciara. At twenty-seven, she was no virgin, but it had been several months since she’d been with a man. Several months. Over the last year, shit with her father made it impossible for her to have a normal life. “See you survived the brush fire unscathed.”

“I wouldn’t say unscathed, but I survived just fine,” Nate said sharply. “Don’t talk to the lady in such a crude way. She has a name.” Ciara bit the inside of her cheek to keep from cracking up. Crude! Ha! Nate has some nerve after what he said to me!
