It was strange to wake up in a bed with an alien male, no, two alien males, she amended. She glanced over to see Leo was still asleep, sprawled on his belly, his head cradled on his bent arm. Lots of thick muscles under gleaming skin on display. They both looked so strong.
She turned her head back to Deklan and jumped with surprise to find him watching her with half-closed, sleepy eyes.
“Sleep well?” he whispered.
She nodded. Deklan’s eyes crinkled at the corners. He inhaled and stretched his arms over his head with a sigh, inadvertently dislodging the sheet even further down his body. He was wearing dark pants so there wasn’t much more she could see, not that she should be looking any further. She couldn’t quite take her eyes off him, though. As he lowered his arms, the one closest to her nudged along her shoulder and coasted down her arm, his large hand finally coming to rest next to hers. He edged closer and watched her for a moment. She could feel the heat of his body.
“Do I look very different?”
“Different than what?” Aura whispered back, unwilling to disturb Leo when he’d been so kind to her.
“A human male. I’ve never seen one in the flesh nor seen a human female until the ship landed.”
“You look different. Bigger, stronger. Your skin is…” She trailed off, not quite sure how to put her newfound affinity for gold.
“Is what?” Deklan rubbed his hand along his chest, bumping over swells of muscle, disturbing the fine black hairs tapering down his abdomen. His voice was rough, and the timbre of it vibrated some previously unknown part of her ear.
“It’s beautiful.” Her honest assessment resulted in a disbelieving smile from the Alphan lounging next to her.
“It serves its purpose. I’d never call it beautiful, especially compared to yours.” Deklan glanced at her face, then her shoulders and arms exposed by the borrowed tank she’d worn to sleep. She knew she was blushing since her face was so hot. In an effort to compose herself, she looked over at Leo to find he was still deeply asleep, unmoving from when she’d last seen him.
A large hand sliding along her arm brought her attention back to Deklan to find he’d edged closer and turned so he was curving against her now. Maybe he was just affectionate in the morning, maybe—

Mid-Week Tease – Almost Ready for Submission WIP – Board Discretion – #MWTease

I have had one of those years wherein I have five to six WIPs going and I can’t seem to get a single one to the best part – THE END! Part of the problem was that my thumb drive went ka-put early in the year and it took a few months to recover everything – but everything was recovered thanks to those techy saints! And Thank God. The other issue is that my schedule has become some sort of crazy-person’s schedule and it doesn’t really seem to be letting up. But I can’t give up!

So on I go! After a few months off of the Mid-Week Tease trail, I’m back! And I’m always thrilled to join Sandra Bunino on this adventure.

I’ve been working on this story – Board Discretion – for awhile now and I’m so very close to the end. Since getting the thumb drive back, I’ve tweaked it a bit to improve it and I hope you all will like it. It’s the third and final book in my Taking Advantage series and I finally feel like Mark Olson and Suzie McCormick are getting their proper story. In the scene below, Mark is waiting for Suzie to get home from a club he left her at. He’s been pacing in front of her elevator anxious for her arrival.

“Mark,” Suzie exclaimed. Her back pressed against the rear wall of the elevator, her blue eyes widened in surprise, her blonde tendrils cascading over her shoulder and her mouth was agape. She clutched her phone to her chest. Her friend, Lisa, maintained a similar expression. He couldn’t help but chuckle.

“Are you going to get out of the elevator? Or do I need to come in there and get you?” Though his tone was half-teasing, there was a serious element to his words. He pushed off the wall toward the elevator and placed his hand on the elevator opening to keep the doors from closing.

“I can see why you like him,” Lisa said. She turned her head to Suzie in the back of the elevator and smiled before walking out. “Don’t break her heart,” Lisa whispered as she brushed past him to the door to their condo. “Or I will break your face.” Mark immediately liked Lisa because it was clear she was a good friend to Suzie.

“What are you doing here? How’d you get in the building?” Suzie hadn’t moved from her spot in the rear of the elevator.

“I’m here because I owe you an apology. Because I wanted to see you. We’ll talk about how I got in here and why you need to talk to the association about security later.” Striding into the elevator, he placed a hand next to either side of her head, caging her against the wall. His head lowered and he pressed his lips gently to hers.

“Mark,” she said against his lips. Pulling back from the kiss, he ran his thumb over her bottom lip.

“I’m so sorry I left you there,” he said. His gaze met hers and his heart constricted when he noticed her watery eyes. “It was a selfish and shitty thing to do and I don’t blame you if you hate me or never want to see me again. I’ve been so concerned about what others would think if they saw us together. That being together could ruin my seat on the board. I completely disregarded your feelings. You deserve so much better than me.” Her eyes closed and a lone tear escaped down her cheek. He brushed it away with his thumb and his chest tightened.

“I don’t want anyone else,” she said. Her voice was so soft he almost couldn’t hear her.

“I don’t want you to want anyone else,” he said. His heart beat rapidly. Just the idea of her giving herself to somebody else had his knees weaken. “I’m so so sorry.”

Totally Tantalizing Tuesday – Kevin Kiermaier

Hard to believe the days and weeks of summer go by so quickly. The kids start back to school in less than two weeks and then it’s back to the grind of school, homework, projects and so on. It’s been a great summer. Travel. Pool. Beach. Fun times with friends. Hope everyone has enjoyed their summer too!

Speaking of summer… one of America’s favorite pastimes carries through the summer! That’s right… I’m talking about baseball. Growing up in Ohio, I was raised a Cleveland Indians fan, but living in the Tampa Bay area for the last decade, I’ve adopted the Tampa Bay Rays. It’s been fun watching them grow! Their in the toughest division in the American League, having to face the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees repeatedly throughout the year. And they’ve held their own.

As you know, I’m a sports buff, so I don’t really need a ton of reasons to watch a good game of any sport. But I will admit it does help when a team has some eye candy and well, the Rays have several guys worth oogling! 😉

This week’s tantalizer caught my attention while I was watching a Rays game at Tropicana Field this season. We were only a few rows up from the dugout and he turned around to look into the stands and I lost my ability to breathe for a few seconds. His eyes are AMAZING!

He’s beautiful to look at, he seems to have a huge heart and he’s proven he’s an incredible baseball player, but what won me over even more is his roots are in the Midwest (Ft. Wayne, Indiana)! I’m a busy gal! You all know it. Work full-time as an attorney. Am a wife and a mother of three children under 7. And on the side, I write. I spend my time doing what I love, so I’m not complaining at all. In fact, I’m bragging! The story is a short, (15,900). It’s erotic, paranormal romance, featuring both shifters and vampires and releases July 16.

The idea for the story came to me on one of my work trips when I passed a spooky old hotel place with a sign hanging outside like one of those old Highwayman type inns. The words, ‘The Black Lion’ were written on the sign, but there was no picture, and the place itself could have been anything. Paint peeled off the big door and there were no lights on inside, even though it was twilight and quite dark because of the rainy weather.

In the story, I describe the doors, but the peeling paint becomes old posters for bands that have played in my version of a club, ‘The Black Lion.’

The title is also a pun on the nature of one of the characters.

When Melissa fleetingly meets Sascha in a nightclub, she hopes he will approach her.

Sascha has secrets and it’s a long time since there was a woman in his life.

Unknown to both of them someone watches jealously.

Will this jealousy stop the budding romance between two people who both have something to hide?

An erotic, paranormal romance, full of surprises.

Sascha gazed at the young woman, whose name, Melissa, he’d stored away like a precious jewel. He memorized the heart shaped face, the big green eyes, the dimple in her right cheek.
